St Laurence's is a 13th century, Grade I listed building, recently re-ordered, with historic features, including a carving of St Laurence holding an iron grid, on which he is said to have suffered martyrdom in 258 AD. Suspended form the ceiling is a memorial by John Skelton in the form of a gridiron, with twisted pieces of copper representing flames, to St Laurence's martyrdom and the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Banners in the nave illustrate the seven great 'I am' statements of Jesus. The interior was reordered in 2010 . Exposed rubble stonework was plastered, the floor tiled and a central dais created. Modern chancel furniture was introduced and upholstered chairs replaced most of the Victorian pews. There is also a plaque to former Rector, Archdeacon Whately, grandfather to actor Kevin Whately.
